Q.   When was Overseas Speedometer founded?

A.   Overseas Speedometer has been repairing speedometers and odometers since 1988.

Q.   What is the average turnaround time for a repair?

A.   Automobiles — typically 2–4 days;  BMW Motorcycles — one to two weeks.

Q.   How much does the repair cost?

A.   Our estimates are based on years of experience and your description of the problems you are having with the instrument.  If the cost of the repair materially exceeds our estimate we will call for your approval.  Request a free repair quote.

Q.   Is there a warranty?

A.   The repairs are warranted for one full year.  (Please see our warranty page)

Q.   Will the mileage stay the same?

A.   Yes, with the exception of the 100–200 additional test miles accumulated while bench testing the repair.

Q.   Do you sell gears and other speedometer parts?

A.   No.  Parts are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain.  We keep our parts for use in our repairs.

Q.   Do you offer a military, car club, or senior citizen discount?

A.   No.

Q.   What methods of payment do you accept for the repair?

A.   We accept cash, money orders, C.O.D., personal checks, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.  We do not accept American Express.  Complete payment information.

Q.   When are you open?

A.   We are generally open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Q.   Have you received my speedometer?

A.   Please wait a reasonable amount of shipping time before you call.

Q.   Do you ship outside the United States?

A.   Yes, via the U.S. Postal Service.

Q.   Do you sell speedometers?

A.   Occasionally.

Q.   Do you buy cores?

A.   Yes.

Q.   When do you require payment?

A.   Some clients send their credit card information on our printable shipping form along with their broken instrument.  We prefer to have your credit card information available before we complete the repair so that there will be no delay in shipping.  Please call us with credit card information after you ship your package so we can ship when the repair is completed.

We can call you for credit card information after completion of the repair, but if we have difficulty making contact the shipment will be delayed.

Others send a check or money order with their unit.  We do accept cash, although this is typically from in-person transactions, and we do not encourage you to send cash through the mail.  C.O.D orders are also accepted.

Q.   What information should I include when I ship my speedometer to Overseas Speedometer?

A.   Preferably fill out the shipping form (a printable form is available for download from our website), or send us your daytime, evening, and cell phone numbers, along with shipping address and a summary of needed repairs.  Packaging & shipping instructions.

Q.   May I deliver my instrument to your shop for repair?

A.   If you are in the area, please call first (512-329-8200), before you drop it by.  Our hours are generally 9:00am to 5:00pm, M–F.
